The first Polonia Open tournament
took place in Sarasota in 2001, attracting
74 competitors from the US, Poland, Canada,
Great Britain and Germany. The level of
play was remarkably high, with finals that
became the high mark of the entire season.
The organizers offered the participants
a multitude of other attractions, including
a golf tournament, which gathered 18 players.
The idea of such tournament immediately
met with an enthusiastic support from many
golfers nationwide. As a result, the golf
event became an integral part of Polonia
Open, attaining equal status in 2003, when
it attracted over 60 competitors, including
many well-known players from the Old Country
and many advanced golfers of Polish descent.

2005 Polonia Open Tournament was the biggest in the
number of participants. Over 200 players
battled for the Open Title. The 2005 and
2006 Polonia Open set the record as the
largest ethnic sports events in Palm Beach
County and brought it up to the level of
the most important sports event of the Polonia
in the world.
The organizers extend warmest thanks to all previous
participants and sponsors, hoping that the
upcoming tournament will provide everyone
with many sports thrills and open new and
valuable marketing opportunities for all
its sponsors.
